Why AI Can't Fix Your B2B Outbound Sales
NextGen Sales Leaders/Benyamin Holley/
Ben Reed has Ben on NextGen Sales Leaders. The thing he wants people to leave with: if you do not understand the buyer, AI is pouring gas on the wrong fire. He is in MSP Discords, the MSP subreddit, and at least two MSP events a month, one in Greenville and one in Charlotte. He does not go to pitch. He goes to learn what is acceptable in that room, because cold calling fails when you do not know the culture. He argues most SaaS SDR teams are revenue-negative demand generation, which is not how Aaron Ross wrote the job in Predictable Revenue. That book described demand capture. Handing inexperienced people a product without product-market fit and asking them to create demand is a different job. Technology can be a runbook. Sales is still an emotional exercise, which is why click-button-get-banana fails.
Notes
- 01
AI and Clay amplify what you already do. They do not invent an ICP.
- 02
He hangs out in MSP Discords, Reddit, and at least two local events a month, Greenville and Charlotte, to learn buyer culture. He is not there to pitch-slap.
- 03
Young inside-sales orgs over-index on email and DMs and will not pick up the phone. Multi-channel is still basic.
- 04
Aaron Ross wrote SDRs as demand capture in Predictable Revenue. Most SaaS teams now ask them to generate demand without brand or product-market fit.
- 05
Technology can be a runbook. Sales is an emotional exercise. That is why a button that promises a meeting fails.
