What Apero builds in Salesforce

Apero Advisors is a GTM engineering and revenue operations partner for PE- and VC-backed companies. Salesforce used to mean months of clicking and Apex contractors. With its CLI and an agent in the loop, it is now one of the better CRMs to build on. Here is what we do in it.

System of record for accounts, opportunities, and activity when the client runs on Salesforce.

What we build in Salesforce

Salesforce has one of the better build experiences of any CRM because its CLI is so good. The work is CRM design that mirrors the sales process, admin and bulk changes through the CLI, account scoring, guarded writes, and pipeline visibility where leadership already lives.

For a site services company, we rebuilt how its sales team works inside Salesforce. Each role got its own workspace with a daily lead queue. We added two timers: new leads go into a sequence within two days, and positive replies get answered within one day. Calls and emails from Reply.io sync in automatically. A rep can't create an opportunity without a completed qualification form, and an opportunity can't move to proposal without a linked quote. A duplicate check runs on every bulk lead upload, because duplicates were breaking the sync. We rolled it out to a pilot group first, so the rest of the team kept working as before.

For an environmental services company, we built a Salesforce pricing and quoting tool that generates property-level quotes and pushes them to HubSpot.

For Stayterra, a short-term rental software company, Apero built a custom data app alongside the CRM. This was not a Salesforce build. Listing coordinates are often wrong, so reps could not reach owners. The app scrapes listings and booking calendars, resolves the real street address via web search, reverse geocoding, and an AI vision model that compares Street View imagery to listing photos, and gives each address a confidence score. It then finds owners across several data providers, sees through LLC ownership, and adds the property manager plus 30/60/90 day booking rates. Across about 3,000 properties, confirmed address accuracy reached 97%. A HubSpot integration is planned.

Apero also runs a bot that watches closed-lost accounts for news. One PE firm deferred working with Apero. The bot later flagged an acquisition in that firm's portfolio, which became a new opportunity to professionalize the sales motion at the acquired portfolio company.

Example workflows

  1. 01

Admin and bulk changes through the Salesforce CLI

    Trigger
Opportunity stages, fields, profiles, or records need a change that would take days of clicking.
    System
Claude Code drives the Salesforce CLI with the permissions of the person running it. Requests like bulk updating stages based on last activity date are done in plain language, no Apex or SOQL required.
    Output
The change made, with a record of what was run.
    Operator outcome
Admin work stops waiting on a developer queue.
  2. 02

Score every account already in the org

    Trigger
Salesforce is full of accounts nobody has looked at in a while.
    System
The whole CRM is pulled into a Clay table. An agent reads each website and scores accounts 1 to 4.
    Output
A tier and a short note an AE would actually read, per account.
    Operator outcome
Reps start from accounts with a reason to be there.
  3. 03

    Guarded writes back into Salesforce

    Trigger
Enriched or classified records are ready to load.
    System
Agents review each record before it loads (reason behind the classification, confidence, LinkedIn match, overwrite risk). A human approves a preview per batch. Contact state is saved before enrichment so writes can be rolled back.
    Output
Reviewed batches, with edge cases called out and a way back.
    Operator outcome
The org gets fuller without silently overwriting what reps entered.
  4. 04

Pipeline visibility without making the CEO log in

    Trigger
Leadership wants to know about big deals, stage changes, stalled opportunities, and forecast flips.
    System
Salesforce changes post to a Slack feed, with a ping to leadership when a deal clears a dollar threshold.
    Output
Pipeline truth in the place the team already works.
    Operator outcome
Leadership can decide where to spend relationship capital without opening Salesforce.

How we work in your Salesforce org

Access
Client's choice: Apero builds in the client's Salesforce org (sandbox or production, whichever you prefer), or in Apero's. Each person's agent connection mirrors their own Salesforce profile. If you are a sales rep, the CLI sees what a sales rep sees. The tool does not elevate privileges because the access is programmatic.
Change control
Agent write access waits until there is a rollback: contact state saved before enrichment, the write key kept in a separate env file, and a confirm-twice step. Integration and automation code lives in GitHub so the work stays when the person who built it leaves.
Documentation
A coding agent walks the Apex, flows, and other data and config in the org and writes agent handoff instructions, so your team or your own agents can maintain what was built. Stages, fields, and the rules that move them stay in the repo next to the code.
Handoff
Documentation and operator training belong to the client either way. Integration and automation code lives wherever the engagement's repo lives, with agent handoff instructions for the org.

When we would not start in Salesforce

  • A heavy Salesforce build before stages, owners, and next steps mirror how the team actually sells. The CRM should mirror the sales process first.
  • Forcing executives into Salesforce for visibility. Slack is usually a better interface for them.
  • Black-box automation an admin cannot read. Changes are code in a repo, not a mystery flow.

FAQ

Why does Apero like Salesforce with Claude Code?

The Salesforce CLI lets an agent reach almost the whole platform with the permissions of the user running it. Benyamin (Ben) Holley, Apero's Head of GTM, has used it for things as small as resetting a password and changing a security profile. HubSpot still makes you click for some of those.

Do we need Apex or SOQL skills to work this way?

No. You need to know what should happen in the sales process and which data matters. An agent can handle the syntax, and it will tell you when it cannot do something.

How should AI tools be permissioned against Salesforce?

Mirror the human's own access. Give each person their own API key or MCP connection so the assistant cannot touch anything that person could not touch themselves.

How does Apero hand off a Salesforce build?

Apero Advisors works in a Salesforce sandbox or in production, per the client's preference. At handoff, a coding agent goes through every Apex class, flow, and other CRM data and configuration and produces agent handoff instructions, so the client's team or the client's own agents can maintain the org.
